We’ve all got an opinion on whether the 2015/16 title-winning side is better than the contemporary Leicester City side. What does Jamie Vardy think?

Leicester City did really achieve the unfathomable in 2015/16, didn’t they?! Well, it isn’t indecipherable but pundits and fans still seem bemused by it occasionally. Trust us, from a Leicester City supporter personally, we still pinch ourselves now and then. Tactically and considering personnel now vacated, the triumph was explainable to be completely honest. Miraculous, yes. Impossible, obviously not.

Currently the Foxes are on a more than comparable succession of winning matches. In fact, Brendan Rodgers’ side is performing slightly better than Claudio Ranieri’s team when Leicester last won the Premier League in 2016.

However, many observers, this writer included, believe that the current starting XI is even more devastating, efficient and proficient a collective than the title-winners. Clearly Leicester are ensuring this title race doesn’t end at Christmas, with division leaders Liverpool still to play in the month of December.

Manchester City are third placed at present in the top-flight, behind the East Midlanders in second. Pep Guardiola himself said Leicester are in with a chance of lifting the trophy again, as did Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp. How respectful – unlike other commentators like Danny Murphy.

Another promising sign emerged on Thursday as Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers addressed the football media in his usual pre-match press conference. Rodgers said no star players will leave the King Power club during the January transfer window. It is vital the squad stay together to attain Champions League qualification.

And on the subject of talented players, how does the modern team compare to the aforementioned champions? Here’s what Jamie Vardy said when asked if the side are in the form of their lives:

"“Yeah, you could say so but I think our performances are different: we can keep the ball a lot more now, we’re possession-based. But it’s possession with a purpose and were getting chances from that.“Whereas obviously when we won the league it was more sit back, get the ball, counter. We’ve got different artillery in our tactical stuff now so it’s all the better for Leicester.”– Jamie VardyVia: Sky Sports Super Sunday (versus Aston Villa, 8/12/19)"
