Ricardo Pereira calls for more aggression from Leicester team-mates
Disappointingly, Leicester City drew with Norwich City 1-1 last weekend. Defender Ricardo Pereira says that more aggression in, certain areas, was necessary.
At King Power Stadium during Saturday’s draw with Norwich City, the usual brilliant atmosphere wasn’t really showcased. Additionally, the Leicester City players either ran out of ideas or energy, or some indescribable deficiency. While the Foxes certainly cannot be described as lazy on the day, a certain degree of determination and invention was absent.
Although it is noteworthy that the Canaries were focused on gaining at least a point. They seem too talented a team to be relegated this season. Whereas Leicester and their supporters will be rather disappointed if Champions League qualification isn’t achieved, at least.
Brendan Rodgers’ side is definitely good enough and capable of a top-four finish. Though it will become more testing to maintain the incredible run, as witnessed in the last Premier League match. The desire, confidence and flow of cohesive play must return.
Reverting to the 4-3-3 formation is a necessity, as Foxes of Leicester sees it. Demarai Gray should be given a starting chance versus Manchester City on Saturday 21st. Harvey Barnes isn’t inline for a recall in our opinion, and Kelechi Iheanacho should probably be benched.
Dennis Praet may keep his place but this formula means James Maddison would be wide-ish. Expect some changes to the side for the Everton Carabao Cup match, too. That clash will also no doubt be an intense contest, with Duncan Ferguson at the Toffees helm.
Ricardo Pereira says Leicester City’s aggression lacking
According to fantastic right-back Ricardo Pereira, the Leicester City squad were upset at the previous league result. He also believes that aggression must be intensified. Not to mention the defender acknowledging the need to perform at a higher standard:
"“I think (it was) our pressing,” he said after the game. “We were not successful with that. We needed to be more aggressive in the game, and play faster with the ball.“I don’t know, maybe that [fatigue] is an excuse because not only us, but their team [Norwich] are playing every weekend, too, and that’s not an excuse. We have to do better than we did.”– Ricardo PereiraVia: Leicester Mercury"
