Questions arise for Brendan Rodgers after poor Leicester display
Despite a perennially positive outlook, there are issues with aspects of his team that Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers must address.
Leicester City were second best in every department versus Liverpool on Boxing Day. Although the result wasn’t so much being outclassed, but one side wanting the win more than the other. Which is a terrible shame because the Foxes have been excellent generally this season.
While this promising contemporary Leicester outfit is young, learning and as boss Brendan Rodgers says “a work in progress”, they can be questioned in certain departments. Even in the current campaign!
The 4-0 drubbing by Liverpool didn’t represent a gulf in class – but a determination and organizational difference. Which was difficult to take as the the current chief has done a marvelous job.
Yes, the Reds are an exceptional team – probably the best in the world at present. Just as their World Club Cup trophy rightly represents. Fatigue was possibly a factor; however there were other irregularities, as Foxes of Leicester understand. That is with regard to some personnel and set-up choices by Rodgers.
Did Rodgers get his Leicester City plan wrong?
There seem to be multiple areas where the northern Irishman in charge on Filbert Way made errors. First of all playing James Maddison on the wing is a mistake, it’s been made before by other managers and probably will be done again.
Obviously such a talent as the 23-year-old will do a job, make mild impact from that area and drift inwards. Though he cannot get involved on the ball enough there to affect the game, along with being more commanding centrally.
