Reports: Leicester City eyeing €50 million double swoop
Leicester City are looking to strengthen in the January transfer window by completing a sensational €50 million double swoop, according to Aksam.
Rodgers has identified AC Milan midfielfer Hakan Calhanoglu and Juventus centre-back Merih Demiral as his key targets as he eyes a top-four finish in his first full season at the King Power Stadium.
La Gazzetta dello Sport’s Nicolo Schira has also confirmed that Leicester have enquired about Turkish international and that Milan won’t stand in his way shall the right offer arrive.
The 25-year old, however, prefers a return to the Bundesliga over an entirely new step like the Premier League.
Demiral, meanwhile, will be an expensive acquisition, although the most likely of the two to join Leicester when the window opens.
He has been of interest of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United (of course), but Bleacher Report suggest that he and his representatives are “excited by the idea of joining this Leicester side“. So are we, Merih. So are we.
Rodgers could also do with a proven winger or two. Ayoze Perez and Harvey Barnes have only managed five goals between them – three of which came from the Spaniard in the 9-0 win over Southampton.
With Jamie Vardy going as well as ever, were he to be partnered by someone like Jarrod Bowen or Hakim Ziyech, Leicester’s attack could be unstoppable.
This isn’t to say Perez and Barnes/Demarai Gray have done badly. It’s just that they have not done enough and have the tendency to go missing too often, which hinders Leicester at times.
While the league table doesn’t reflect that for now, it could in May.
