Brendan Rodgers has been clear when admitting Leicester City want a centre-back on loan or on a permanent deal. These are some reported targets.

With the season approaching two-thirds of the way through, Leicester City are presently content with their comfortable Champions League qualifying placement of third. Footballing superpowers Manchester City along with Liverpool are the only two clubs ahead.

However the Foxes are capable of catching the Citizens, though Liverpool are too exceptional and robotic like for anyone sensible to even consider suggest that the Reds may bungle their Premier League title chase.

Leicester City’s transfer window

In more than one separate press conference, when not even particularly pressed, Brendan Rodgers has honestly admitted that the East Midlands side require another centre-back. Not to mention that they want to sign one during this window.

Obviously the Northern Irishman doesn’t name potential incoming players, but it is still slightly rare for a manager to even specify a position of interest. Ambiguity is their thing.

This mild irregularity is most likely due to the fact that the club is also trying to find a suitor for Filip Benkovic to go out on loan with. Although, if a centre-half does not come in – Benkovic is going nowhere.

Who may be brought in?

According to a number of sports media outlets, Jannik Vestergaard is an apparent locked in target of Leicester’s. If they cannot sign him then there is an apparent back-up defender the Foxes are linked with.

Ben Davies of Preston North End is a name that one journalist has suggested is lined-up for the King Power club. The 24-year-old came through Preston’s youth ranks. Yet he’ll only be pursued if Vestergaard isn’t captured.
