Before the Carabao Cup semi-final versus Aston Villa, Brendan Rodgers provided media with a transfer update along with injury news.

While Leicester City and their supporters have an FA Cup fifth round draw to look forward to around 7pm on Monday evening, they are also in the Carabao Cup semi-final.

Aston Villa drew with the Foxes in the first leg at King Power Stadium, now the two Midlands rivals play the deciding tie in Birmingham on Tuesday. With the scoreline finely balanced at 1-1, both will fancy their chances of progression to a Wembley final.

Leicester City transfer news

On Monday Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers gave his traditional one or two-day pre-match press conference, he updated fans and media on players with existing and fresh injuries.

Rodgers was also asked about the transfer position of Leicester presently, he assured journalists that the club seek a centre-back and are targeting their man. We also know that the East Midlands side are searching for a loan club for Filip Benkovic.

Jamie Vardy’s injury seems to have almost cleared up entirely: Rodgers said of his striker that he’s in the squad, not 100 per cent fit, but around 80%. However, the boss didn’t mention whether Vardy would begin the game at Villa Park.

This news of Vardy’s healing is great for all connected with the team; if Foxes of Leicester had to predict the likelihood of the former England forward being in the starting line-up, we would guess at a 90% chance.

Also. If LCFC can't sign Vestergaard, this is the centre-back they apparently want. light

Club captain Wes Morgan along with Papy Mendy are the only absentees for the Foxes‘ next clash, according to lcfc.com. A huge game – winning of course gives them a chance to lift the League Cup for a fourth time.
