Brendan Rodgers just finished his pre-match press conference for Chelsea, he gave news on squad fitness at Leicester City along with a transfer update.

The transfer window’s January duration has, almost, finally, elapsed. It is as exciting as it is annoyingly speculative. Leicester City have been particularly quiet, with no incomings as of yet. Only shipping out a few peripheral personnel as loanees.

Those now loaned players include: Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who recently made his debut versus Brentford in the FA Cup; Admiral Muskwe; Andy King and George Thomas. King’s contract is at last at an end in the summer; he is a club legend but it was very silly and wasteful to give him a four-year extension in 2016 for winning the title. Sentiment is never a good idea in football.

January transfer window – Leicester City

At the last count, the Foxes have been linked with a ridiculously high number of alleged targets: this writer counted 36 – whether or not I missed a couple is anyone’s guess at this staggering amount – in Leicester Mercury‘s roundup. Some of them are obviously made up by national media, not to mention dodgy agents attempting to accelerate nothing into profit.

In the opposite sense there are a few exciting prospective signings among the speculated names, too. For Foxes of Leicester they include: Burnley’s Dwight McNeil, the now unfortunately injured Merih Demiral of Juventus, Jarrod Bowen who is currently at Hull City. While Manchester United’s Luke Shaw would replace Ben Chilwell if the left-back leaves.

Is anyone coming in?

Jannik Vestergaard from Southampton is the most realistic signing for Leicester City this window, as FoL sees it. Manager Brendan Rodgers just gave a press conference: he talked possible new faces again; the Northern Irishman previously confirmed the club desire an understudy centre-back.

Additionally, Rodgers said the King Power club hope to “get one over the line”, before deadline. He wants to have “cover in”: leading one to believe it is Vestergaard – due to the Saints’ man’s status. We predict that this one must be close to a done deal.
