Caglar Soyuncu’s rise in the Premier League is astonishing, he’s had an incredible season for Leicester City. How is he viewed by peers?

Would you like to play against Caglar Soyuncu? Well, this writer would probably dread that opportunity. And yeah, Foxes of Leicester can explain why: the Turkish international is accustomed to coping with the ball in dangerous areas, his tackling is brutal as well as superbly balanced. While he has the vision and skill to embarrass an opponent, too.

Presently the Turk is enjoying ‘undroppable-like’ status. He is without a doubt joint-first selection as a centre-half pairing. Therefore he must not become complacent; often athletes can become too comfortable in that scenario and lull themselves into a false sense of security.

Though it is hard to imagine that happening with a man like the former-Freiburg player. His appetite for the game never seems satisfied, and indeed won’t be fulfilled with the King Power club, yet. The arrival of understudy Ryan Bennett, signed from Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan in January, will only spur on Soyuncu.

Midfield pal James Maddison speaks highly of his colleague: stating that Soyuncu showed glimpses of his prowess and competitive nature in training last season. Though the latter had language issues and didn’t feature often in 2018/19, Maddison suggests his team-mate has been a “rock” this campaign, per Leicester Mercury.

Furthermore, the playmaker shared the fact that English top-flight strikers he’s spoken to do not relish playing against the highly regarded Leicester City defender: “…because he’s [Soyuncu is] strong, he’s good on the ball and he’s fast”. That quote is from Soccer AM.
