Leicester City midfielder James Maddison wants to move to Manchester United this summer, according to Manchester Evening News.

As per those close to the player, the 23-year old “would have been at United years ago” if he had his way. If it is true, then it is telling and could prove to be a defining factor if and when the Red Devils come for the no.10 – if being the operative word.

It previously emerged that United had dropped their interest in Maddison, with the midfielder close to signing a new contract at the King Power Stadium.

Now, if he is close to putting pen to paper, then it shows that he does not want to be at Old Trafford; otherwise, why would he sign at all?

If, however, he really wants the move, then there is no way that any offer from Leicester would be convincing enough for him. It would also mean that United reignite their penchant for him and begin working on making it happen.

At this point, it has become very unclear as to what does the England international really want. Brendan Rodgers was not very convincing when asked about Maddison’s contract situation either. He said:

"“It’s still the same as where it’s at.“The club and his representatives are still negotiating and hopefully they’ll find a conclusion.”"

Something is definitely cooking behind the scenes and it does not smell good at all. We are well aware of this smell and we also know what the end product could be.
