Leicester City might not be enjoying the same footballing fortunes as they had been not so long ago but they sure are receiving Brendan Rodgers’ plaudits.

The Foxes have not been able to live up to the high standards that they set for themselves in the first half of the season, having won only three of their last ten games in the Premier League.

They have lost four and drawn three during that time, though they still sit third in the table: nine points above their closest rivals Chelsea and ten above fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Given the kind of slip-ups they have had of late, the fact that they still sit pretty comfortably at third is an accurate reflection of their incredible run of form early on.

No wonder Rodgers does not have a bad word to say. Speaking to LCFC TV, he said:

"“Our focus is just to try and finish as high as we can. These players have been amazing.“Up until now, at this point, with 12 games to go and where they sit, they’ve done absolutely brilliant.“We’ve got a lot of work to do. There’s still 36 points to play for, so we’ve got to keep pushing and working. It sets us up now for the remainder of the season.”"

Leicester should be okay. Let us not forget that they’ve been without Wilfred Ndidi in four of their last five league games, and we all know how important he is to the overall functioning of this team.

He is once again in doubt for the all-important fixture against Manchester City but he should, in all probability, be back next week.

There’s 36 points still left to play for, and if Leicester drop even half of those – which is very-very unlikely – they would still finish one short of the 70-point mark. You would think that 69 points would enough for a UEFA Champions League spot.

Keep in mind that we are only considering the absolute minimum here. In an ideal world, Rodgers’ side would pick somewhere around 25 points. So yes, Leicester should be okay.
