During the January transfer window Leicester City made the loan signing of Ryan Bennett. He may start against Manchester City on Saturday for these reasons.

Ryan Bennett obviously couldn’t play against parent club Wolverhampton Wanderers in Leicester City’s previous Premier League outing, because he’s on loan at the King Power club. He also wasn’t involved versus Chelsea on February 1, due to not being registered early enough.

Style of Leicester City defender

Bennett can play a bit with the ball at his feet, not quite to Caglar Soyuncu’s dizzying heights of embarrassing attackers. Yet the Englishman is cool, calm and collected: picking a pass comes easy. And in the tackle he is ferocious and measured.

Leicester vs. Manchester City

Happily for the Blue Army, Bennett may now make his belated debut for the Foxes. They play footballing superpower – although they are struggling with UEFA off the field – Manchester City. But not only will the centre-half feature – he might be starting against the Citizens.

One reason why Bennett could begin the game is that beating Pep Guardiola’s side, despite difficulties on the pitch compared to their high standards, is still a gargantuan task. They are as adept at skillfully defeating their opponents as they are adroit in finding a way past opposition when not at the highest of performance levels.

Another, more worrying, basis for the rationale that the 29-year-old could be in the East Midlanders‘ XI, is that Wilfred Ndidi is still injured, per Leicester Mercury. Papy Mendy joins him on the sideline and Hamza Choudhury is suspended. This means Brendan Rodgers will be forced to consider a three-man centre-back partnership. Of course Bennett played in a trio at Wolves regularly so he is experienced in that capacity.
