Leicester City are all set to lock horns with Premier League rivals Arsenal and Everton for Lille’s Gabriel dos Santos Magalhaes.

As per Le10 Sport, Brendan Rodgers is interested in bringing the 22-year old centre-back to the King Power Stadium this summer.

Whether his club want to send him there is an altogether different question, though, as they made him put pen to paper earlier this month.

It might have been a direct consequence of the bids from Arsenal and Everton in the January transfer window, both of which were duly rejected.

With the Ligue 1 side understood to be expecting a fee in the region of €30 million, we can assume that both of those clubs will inevitably come back very-very soon.

Leicester, of course, will try their luck, too – if their interest is genuine. It is not like they lack options at the back, having recently added Ryan Bennett to their ranks from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

However, how long does the loanee stay for will depend on how he fares (Leicester have the option to make his deal permanent).

In all likelihood, the 29-year old will return to the Molineux Stadium because we all know that Rodgers likes his players young and fresh – unless they are Jonny Evans, Jamie Vardy, Kasper Schmeichel or, well, Kolo Toure.

Magalhaes, a young and talented Brazilian fits that profile quite perfectly.

Having already made 21 league appearances this season, the defender has been going from strength to strength and looks ready to take that step up.
