Jack Grealish

Where to begin with Jack Grealish, errm, this is tricky: on occasion this season, it appears the Aston Villa playmaker is becoming the player that Leicester City supporters want James Maddison to be. Mainly through consistency. Oh and the former is also attempting to, almost singlehandedly, drag his beloved club from the brink of demotion from the top-flight, again.

Yeah, rest assured we at FoL are well aware that the Villans are rivals of the Foxes – but it’s OK to dream of perfect transfer signings. Isn’t it?! Besides, stranger things certainly have happened – to both teams. Anyway, it’s just business.

In all honesty Grealish fits every margin as a potential superstar of the future, he could play for almost any team. His technique on the ball and positioning off if is second to none, globally. He has world-class dribbling and shooting ability; can select and execute any range of passing, including key passes as well as assisting.

Defensively the 24-year-old doesn’t just chip in, he retrieves the ball and intercepts to set-up counter-attacks and fresh penetration for his side. Marshalling and organising as captain comes easy for the Englishman; wingers and attacking midfielders are really chosen or considered appropriate choices for skipper unless they’re very special performers.

Ultimately the Villa man could and should be a first choice target for the King Power side, regardless of whether his friend Maddison leaves Leicester. There’s no doubt that he’ll be called-up for England duty in the next squad by Gareth Southgate, and rightly so.

If the Birmingham outfit do drop down to the Championship, then we can’t imagine Grealish remaining there. Leicester can afford the prospective pricetag, but would he actually go that one step further and join the Foxes? It’s very unlikely, especially with the rebuilding of Manchester United underway.
