Leicester City play Aston Villa in the Premier League on Monday evening, here are all the elements of note from Brendan Rodgers’ pre-match press conference.

Encouragingly the Foxes returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Birmingham in the FA Cup, Wednesday. That release of pressure and progression to the quarter-finals was vitally necessary for a team whose fortunes have drastically altered.

It was one harsh winter for Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester side. They’ve maintained top-three status in the division, just; though all momentum in the top-flight has derailed. Thankfully the Blues weren’t too much threat, consequently raising the King Power club’s confidence.

Leicester City v Aston Villa

A certain level of revenge will be eyed by the Leicester City players as they face the rivals who ‘took’ their Carabao Cup final place. Either team could have been won the semi-final, Villa are a decent outfit at times.

Before the upcoming match, boss Rodgers undertook the obligatory presser. He did speak on a couple of more unusual subjects this time around. With regards to precautions for the coronavirus, the Northern Irishman said he isn’t qualified to give or discuss advice.

However, the 47-year-old also made it clear that the squad will adhere to any measures implemented. Additionally saying that it would be a shame for supporters to be kept away from ‘closed door games’.

There was also talk of Eric Dier’s incursion into the crowd following Tottenham Hotspur’s latest fixture: Rodgers believes Dier’s “instinct” was understandable. Not to mention players being able to ignore abuse on the majority of occasions. Read more at LCFC Live.

Last but not least, Jamie Vardy should be fit to start the Villa contest next week. Although, unfortunately, Ben Chilwell has picked up a knock that may rule him out. Christian Fuchs will most likely deputize at left-back; while many fans want to see James Justin given his opportunity.
