Ben Chilwell’s Leicester City excuse not really accurate
Leicester City and England defender Ben Chilwell has attempted to explain why the Foxes are no longer clinical in front of goal.
If – and that is a big if with Aston Villa aiming to avoid relegation – Leicester City win against their rivals on Monday evening, they go five points clear of Chelsea. While Manchester City will only be four ahead of the Foxes, in that eventuality.
Champions League qualification is a feasible achievement for Brendan Rodgers’ side. Don’t let anyone tell you that Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United or Arsenal will decide the East Midlanders’ fate – they won’t.
The established big six may capitalize on Leicester’s potential failings, if they capitulate with regards to making Europe again. Yet the Foxes just have to produce a reasonable amount of form, along with grinding out a few results.
Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell
Before playing Aston Villa in a crucial Premier League clash on Monday, Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell spoke to lcfc.com. it was wonderful to hear that the England man is optimistic about the season’s prospects, as well as relishing the fight.
However, the left-back is struggling in more ways than one at present: his own displays on average have been far below the lofty standard he cultivated last campaign. Not to mention currently nursing an injury which may keep him out of the upcoming game.
Whilst speaking to the club’s website Chilwell also said he believed a reason for the team not finishing as many chances may be because they are a young group. Now, we all know that you don’t need to be a veteran to be clinical in front of goal. There’s also the fact that Leicester don’t particularly field an inexperienced side in comparison with other premiership clubs.
Basically the Foxes are roughly the mean in the fledgling charts for the division: with the senior side’s average age being 26-years. It is, though, obvious that Chilwell still makes an intuitive point regarding attacking players on Filbert Way. The forwards are generally younger: Harvey Barnes, Youri Tielemans, James Maddison and Kelechi Iheanacho for example. Hopefully those players will find the composure needed as they are have class.
