Wilfred Ndidi has earned improved contract at Leicester
In order to help keep the Nigerian international for next season, Leicester City should offer Wilfred Ndidi an improved contract for his excellent work.
Champion League football is in the sights for Leicester City, they control their own destiny. That being said some of the established big six have begun winning more, or are at least gaining an increased amount of points. Therefore the Foxes must beware of a threat, but as previously stated, in third Premier League place – they hold the best cards.
Whilst Wilfred Ndidi was injured and subsequently out of action, Leicester struggled to maintain the illustrious displays which saw them surpass expectations by reaching and cementing a top-three spot. It wasn’t just the centre of the pitch which missed the Nigerian, defenders seem less well guarded and not so sure of their surroundings. While the attack has grown fairly lifeless, very unimaginative along with generally impotent as of late, especially.
To be honest everyone from Brendan Rodgers to fans and experts believe the main reason for the decline in form was due to Ndidi’s absence. Having no Jamie Vardy, an unfit Vardy or a No.9 without the defensive-minded linchpin affects performance, too.
Wilfred Ndidi deserves new Leicester City deal
This week saw the defensive-minded midfielder return, crucially, to the Leicester City starting line-up. Evidently everyone was correct about Ndidi’s positive, vital influence, as the Foxes defeated Birmingham City to secure a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
Consequently the Ndidi hype has, rightfully, started up again: Telegraph‘s respected journalist John Percy noted that Leicester’s win percentage is a miserable 16.7 when the Nigeria man’s not playing. Adding that he thinks the 23-year-old is the team’s MVP – ‘most valuable player’. Rodgers also labeled his star as “irrepressible”, per Sky Sports.
Ndidi certainly restrains the opposition marvelously and has earned a new, improved deal at the club in Foxes of Leicester’s eyes. An accepted offer from the King Power side would also help deter potential suitors in the summer transfer window. His current contract ends in 2024 and he is already amongst the top earners on Filbert Way.
