Following Leicester City’s demolition of Aston Villa on Monday, Jamie Vardy was asked about a return to England duty due to a striker shortage.

Aston Villa couldn’t handle Leicester City, at all. They were defeated 4-0 at King Power Stadium in the latest Premier League fixture. Third position is definitely within the Foxes’ grasp as the season enters the most important stage.

Thankfully Leicester have found form and goals just in time for the vital period of their quest for Champions League qualification. Previously the East Midlands side hadn’t scored in three premiership outings, neither had they won in four efforts.

That sequence was in stark contrast to Brendan Rodgers’ team’s beginnings this campaign: a rampant side buzzing with a finely complimentary blend of quality youth, as well as experienced metal and aptitude. Though a ‘winter of discontent’ for the Foxes saw that compositions, confidence and points gaining evaporate – along with Carabao Cup hopes.

light. More. A winter of discontent for LCFC

Leicester City and England’s Jamie Vardy?

Coinciding with the return to form for the club is a now fully fit and goalscoring Jamie Vardy. Oh how the Blue Army faithful have missed witnessing that sweet sight.

Vardy came on as a substitute for the unfortunately misfiring and visibly struggling Kelechi Iheanacho. It’s a real shame Iheanacho didn’t quite perform how he wanted to versus the Villans, as his game-time before the term ends will now presumably be limited.

While the former England forward was asked about playing for the Three Lions once again, now that Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford are injured. Vardy answered as candidly as ever:

Hot. LCFC should worry as Man City target Fox. light

"“Who knows? Gareth and I both agreed the door would still be open for whatever reason and then we would sit down and have a talk about it (if needed).“We’ve not had the chat or anything yet and nothing has been spoken about. The lads (Kane and Rashford) are out injured, but they’re looking to be back in time. So only time will tell.”– Jamie VardyVia Reuters"
