Two Leicester City players are injured, with one unavailable for the remainder of the season. Three others are isolating due to coronavirus.

Leicester City seem to have been hitting form at a peak time: wins over Birmingham in the FA Cup as well as an incredible dismissal of rivals Aston Villa at home in the Premier League, most recently.

However, a situation more important than sport has arisen. There are currently reports that UEFA may suspend all matches in the European divisions due to the coronavirus.

That precaution will apparently be implemented, or not, in the coming days. At present other measures have been in place in the English top-flight, such as no handshaking before matches.

At the moment it appears as though many leagues may decide suspend action very soon, with some like La Liga of Spain already doing so.

Some observers have suggested to at least playing games behind closed doors – meaning without fans in attendance – would be sensible for the foreseeable future.

Leicester City status

If the next round of domestic fixtures, Leicester City play Watford in the early kick-off on Saturday March 14. That contest is obviously now under intense scrutiny.

What makes the clash even less likely to go ahead is the latest worrying news that three Foxes team members are in isolation with symptoms due to the pandemic. Though neither three have been tested because the trio hasn’t “hit the threshold in terms of symptoms”. It is not known who the men are yet, but they are in the first team.

Here’s comment from lcfc.com:

"“a seven-day period of self-isolation was appropriate as a precaution. There was no recommendation that further testing would be necessary. The Club is in regular contact with the relevant players, whose symptoms remain mild and self-manageable.”"

In addition, Ricardo Pereira, arguably Leicester’s best performer this campaign, is injured and unavailable for the rest of the season. James Maddison also has a knock so is out for two weeks with a calf strain. Bad times.
