Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell still remains a summer target for Chelsea, as per Football London’s Oliver Harbord.

Chilwell has for long been on the Blues’ radar; however, every single time they have tried making a move, they have had to taste defeat.

But it does not seem like they are going to be put off so easily, not especially now, when Chilwell’s future at the King Power Stadium seems to be hanging in the balance.

And this is the reason why the 23-year old is on Frank Lampard’s list, as Harbord revealed in a Q&A:

"“On the radar. Alex Telles is another player who will be looked at over the summer as a potential left-back option,” he said.“Emerson has been rarely used, while Marcos Alonso has certainly got himself back into the first team thinking.“Meanwhile, youngster Ian Maatsen has just signed a new four-year deal, but the likelihood is that he is going to be loaned out to get more experience and is a more long-term prospect.“But for the Blues in the short term, Cesar Azpilicueta is not the main solution for the left-back position.“However, Ben Chilwell is also on the radar for the summer, along with Telles.”"

Truth be told, Chilwell’s future is very uncertain for now. He has not been anyway near his best for a majority of the season, particularly at the back, where he has been exposed by anyone half-good.

To his dismay, James Justin has not wasted a single chance, proving himself to be good enough for a step up – if it does come to that.

So now it comes down to whether Brendan Rodgers wants him. If he does, he has to do everything possible to end the speculation. This rumour has been doing way too many rounds for anyone’s comfort.

Everything else depends on Chilwell as ultimately, the decision will be the player’s, and it’s him who has to choose if he wants to stay at Leicester and help complete this project, or he wants to go to Chelsea for potentially bigger things.

Next. Are the Leicester players still training together?. dark

As much as we will hate to see him go, it’s all part and parcel of the game.
