Why Chelsea fans don’t want Leicester’s Ben Chilwell
Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell has long been linked with a move to Chelsea. However, they reportedly have other targets and their fans aren’t keen.
As we all eagerly await the undecided return of the Premier League, there will still be rumours of players moving teams. Despite the transfer window’s usual timings also being heavily in doubt. Leicester City star Ben Chilwell is constantly alleged to be on his way out of King Power Stadium.
However, it’s been over a year of that talk with nothing concrete whatsoever concluded. Chilwell insists he’s happy on Filbert Way, as well as being a Fox. Although this season hasn’t been the England international’s best at all.
With some onlookers even suggesting his unsure, uneven performances reflect a man ensuring his physical fitness for an already agreed deal. That is possibly harsh on the Leicester defender; along with most likely being untrue. An agreement would probably be made public by now: we all know leaking is an issue at present inside football inner sanctums.
Leicester City to Chelsea?
Chelsea do seem a good fit for Chilwell, if he requests a transfer. The Pensioners are struggling to find the correct tonic on the left of defence: occasionally fielding ageing right-backs there, amongst other unqualified athletes.
Had Chilwell performed better this campaign, Foxes of Leicester wouldn’t be calling to get as much money as possible now, rather than when his pricetag decreases.
While it is obvious, looking at these comments from Blues supporters, that the majority don’t consider the Fox as an adequate replacement. Those fans have a keen sense of analysis of players who are overpriced: some reports suggest Leicester’s valuation of Chilwell to be an incredible £80 million. With the latter having been exposed by some mediocre opponents this season, that cost is fanciful.
Chelsea fans also identified more suitable choices for their side, such as Porto’s Alex Telles or Bayern Munich’s David Alaba.
Regardless of this alleged interest, true or not, FoL believe Brendan Rodgers and the Leicester City hierarchy will attempt to keep the 23-year-old. Tottenham Hotspur are said to be in the ‘driving seat’ to capture the fullback’s signature now.
