So what if there’s no football? We can always salivate over the good old days.

In what is the first of our many editions of doing the very same, we look at Leicester’s best-performing players this season.

3. Jamie Vardy

We will never not have Jamie Vardy in a conversation concerning Leicester’s best players over the course of a season. Since the club’s promotion to the Premier League, he has consistently been up there in terms of his output and impact – whether that is against teams of similar stature or the ‘Big Six’.

This season has arguably been his best after the title-winning campaign. With 23 goal involvements in 26 league appearances (19 goals and four assists), he is the division’s top goalscorer and, shall the season be completed, could surpass his tally of 24 goals in 2015/16.

He did go off the boil for a good while but in no way is does that mean that we overlook what was an astonishing first-half of the season for him. He played as well as we have ever seen him play and was by some distance the best in the country.
