2. Caglar Soyuncu

Monumental. In his breakthrough season, Caglar Soyuncu has not been about a handful of good performances here and there. He has been Leicester’s best centre-back, which is saying something considering how good Jonny Evans has been, too.

At the start of the season, all of us were worried about the major gap that Harry Maguire had left behind. Brendan Rodgers did not bother buying a defender and at the time, it seemed a very strange decision. Little did we know that Soyuncu will exceed expectations by a million miles and emerge as the club’s next big thing.

His numbers this season are staggering and they very accurately support the notion that in the Turkish international, the Foxes have a typical modern-day centre back:

Appearances (league only): 28

Interceptions per game: 1.3

Tackles per game: 1.8

Clearances per game: 4.6

Total passes: 1,862

Successful passes: 1,664

Successful long balls per game: 3.1

Seems like the kind of player Pep Guardiola would be interested in.
