1. Wilfred Ndidi

Oh Wilfred Ndidi, where would Leicester be without you? What would Leicester do without you? That the Nigerian is the Foxes’ most important player is not even up for debate. It is a fact, proven best by the side’s struggles during the time that he was sidelined.

For all of the flair and panache of Youri Tielemans and James Maddison, they miserably failed to control the middle of the park while Ndidi was away, and as soon as he was fit and back in, you could see the difference for yourself. It was telling.

Not to forget the fact that Leicester were conceding more goals in the 23-year old’s absence, because, of course, no one does the cleaning as well as him in the whole of England, not just the East Midlands.

Up until last season, we could say that Ndidi’s defensive and offensive aspects do have a world of difference between them, but under Brendan Rodgers, his passing has gone up a number of levels to the point that he is admittedly the best defensive midfielder in the Premier League. No wonder that the gaffer had this to say about him:

"“He’s a huge player, and our squad, we don’t have the depth to miss that level of player. “A lot of the guys that come in, they contribute so well, but when you have one of the best ball-winners in the Premier League out for a period of time, of course, you miss him.”"
