These two excellent Leicester City stars have been included in the WhoScored Premier League Team of the Season. Foxes of Leicester explains the inclusion and looks at recent news.

If the season ends as it stands, unlikely as that is, then Leicester City as well as their supporters would be delighted with a third placed Premier League finish and a seeded Champions League spot. Not all clubs will agree with that: they’ll likely be the sides who are not in the current position that they desire.

However, a more viable, fair way to ensure everyone is happy is the concept of playing a more congested fixture list up until July, when and if the premiership can restart in the next month or so. Even if behind closed doors for safety.

To be honest, the professionals are having an extended sabbatical now due to the coronavirus; along with all squad members maintaining fitness and being monitored. Therefore completing the season is best for all.

Leicester City’s best statistical performers

This week WhoScored published their English top-flight best XI. Foxes right-back Ricardo Pereira and midfield maestro James Maddison found themselves amongst the impressive ‘Team of the Season’. Which is of course compiled by statistical match ratings.

Ricardo scored a 7.50 overall, overriding highly-rated Liverpool defensive star Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Portuguese also made the ‘Most Improved’ outfit for the outlet. While Maddison managed a 7.34 overall. He is amongst greatness: with Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne and Sadio Mane of the Reds for company.
