Leicester City midfielder James Maddison has named two Manchester United players in his ‘Top Five Teammates’ list.

The 23-year old was asked by fans to name the best he has played alongside, and to United fans’ delight, he named Marcus Rashford and former Leicester player Harry Maguire among his five.

What will please them more is that he only picked one Leicester player, Jamie Vardy, leaving out the likes of Wilfred Ndidi, Youri Tielemans, Ricardo Pereira, Caglar Soyuncu and a host of other names.

Completing Madders’ list are Wes Hoolahan, who he played with at Norwich City, and Borussia Dortmund and England’s Jadon Sancho.

That is going to set the cat among the pigeons, wouldn’t it? For a player so heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, to express his liking for two United players is something that can make Twitter explode – even if it should not.

90min recently reported that United are set to give up on their pursuit of Maddison.

They are expecting the Leicester no.10 to sign a new contract with the club pretty soon, which would in all likeliness mean a price surge and increased difficulties in getting a deal over the line.

However, those close to the player himself, reports the Manchester Evening News, suggest that he “would have been at United years ago” if he had his way.

If it is true, then it is telling and could prove to be a defining factor some time from now. If he really wants the move, then there is no way that any offer from Leicester would be convincing enough for him.
