Caglar Soyuncu gets big praise from this expert: Leicester
Leicester City‘s exceptional Turkish defender Caglar Soyuncu has been given a great honour by being named alongside Virgil Van Dijk in a Team of the Year.
Obviously nobody could disagree that Caglar Soyuncu had a wonderful season at Leicester City. In some people’s mind the Turkish international had an insurmountable task in superseding Manchester United’s Harry Maguire.
Though Soyuncu made light work of that conundrum, quickly conquering the issue and, to some, overtaking Maguire’s input. To be fair the former has performed well in his maiden Old Trafford campaign. Nevertheless, us Foxes fans don’t miss the England centre-back thanks to Soyuncu’s great influence and prowess.
Leicester City defender making the grade
Overall, as stated, Soyuncu’s first term as a Premier League starter was exceptional. One way to gauge the quality of his play is the defence’s fine record of not conceding too many goals, naturally.
Another aspect to illuminate how immense as well as immeasurably valuable the 23-year-old has been, is the rumoured interest from major premiership clubs. Manchester City are reportedly monitoring the former Freiburg player.
That sort of news, rumour or not, can be considered a great compliment. The Citizens are a footballing superpower whom only require the world’s best, most prominent performers. Therefore a link, whether realistic or not, is high praise.
Team of the Year
Another person to hail the centre-half as one of the division’s elite, is ex-Southampton attacker Matt Le Tissier. Sky Sports‘ pundit was an amazing footballer, one who knows the most competent when he sees them.
Le Tissier actually named the Leicester City man in his top-flight Team of the Year, along with a host of other talent. Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk, generally thought of as the most impressive defender globally, is Soyuncu’s partner in the team.
