This Spanish football expert has confirmed Leicester City‘s interest in Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho, currently at Barcelona.

When he was at Liverpool, before Brendan Rodgers almost guided them to a first ever Premier League title, Philippe Coutinho endured some criticism from Reds supporters and observers of the division in general. But the season that Rodgers had the playmaker, Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez firing on all cylinders at Anfield was an impressive sight to behold.

Obviously the infamous Gerrard slip – this writer thinks he’s been over-taunted to be perfectly honest, what a player he was – probably cost his beloved club the premiership trophy that campaign.

However, the 2013/14 term was Coutinho’s breakout. Yes, he only supplied eight goal involvements in over thirty matches, though wasn’t measured on his integral displays statistically. Nor are his many key passes from all angles mentioned in that breath.

Basically the Brazilian was instrumental for the Northern Irishman on Merseyside. And now, against all odds, it appears that Rodgers definitely wants to reignite their burgeoning relationship. Which ended when Rodgers left his post as Reds manager.

Leicester City interest in Philippe Coutinho

When Foxes of Leicester first reported that Leicester City might be targeting an audacious capture of the Brazil international, some of our followers including actual Foxes ‘fans’ disputed the rumour. Even going so far as to ridicule the notion; the club; and ourselves.

To be frank, we ignore the negative rubbish. We are fully aware for sure that the King Power club can and will aim to bring in superstars to bolster Champions League ambition.

Subsequently Spanish football expert and Sky Sports pundit, Guillem Balague, confirmed Leicester’s interest in the star player on his YouTube account. Although the £80 million pricetag supposedly placed on Coutinho’s head by Barcelona could deter the East Midlanders from going ahead with a transfer. That is if the highly rated player considers the move at all.
