Wes Brown has backed Manchester United’s potential move for Leicester City playmaker James Maddison.

The England international has been heavily linked with the Red Devils, who have had a long-standing interest in him.

Former United centre-back Brown has now joined the long list of ex-players and pundits who are in favour of the transfer, stating that he would be a great asset for the club.

He would also like to see Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho and Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish at Old Trafford – that is what he said when asked which of the three would he sign anyway.

"“I would have all three! Any one of those three would be great,” Brown told MUTV, as quoted by Metro.“Jadon Sancho would probably be No. 1. But James Maddison looks fit and ready and determined and would also be a great asset for the club.“Jack Grealish is an individual that gets things done, takes control of the game and has his own style. Any one of those three would be perfect I think.“If that was to happen and Ole could tinker with it a little bit and see where they all fit in it that midfield, I think we’d be a force to be reckoned with.”"

No one quite knows what Maddison is going to do. The reports have all been contradictory, making it yet more difficult to conclude whether a change of clubs is on the cards or not.

90min recently reported that United are set to give up on their pursuit of Maddison.

They are expecting the Leicester no.10 to sign a new contract with the club pretty soon, which would in all likeliness mean a price surge and increased difficulties in getting a deal over the line.

However, those close to the player himself, reports the Manchester Evening News, suggest that he “would have been at United years ago” if he had his way.

If it is true, then it is telling and could prove to be a defining factor some time from now. If he really wants the move, then there is no way that any offer from Leicester would be convincing enough for him.
