Leicester City could beat Everton to the signature of Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes, as per multiple reports in France.

Although there are murmurs in the national press that the Toffees have already completed a £25-million deal for the centre-back, Le10Sport say that he is yet to decide upon his next destination.

Arsenal and Chelsea are also among those interested in the 22-year old; however, there has been no offer from them yet.

It is also being reported that Leicester can afford to pay him more than Everton, which could be a defining factor if the Foxes do pursue him.

Leicester have also been linked with Celtic’s Kristoffer Ajer, who is sure to be on the move this summer.

Magalhaes and Ajer are just two of the many rumoured defensive targets for Leicester.

Signing at least one recognised central defender has become a priority for Brendan Rodgers, with Jonny Evans soon to be 33 and Wes Morgan’s current contract due to expire soon.

Then there’s the young trio of Caglar Soyuncu, Filip Benkovic and Daniel Amartey. While Soyuncu is set to be a mainstay for a long time, no one quite knows what the future holds for the other two.

In all probability, Benkovic would stay but Amartey would certainly be sold. He’s been here for a long time and consistently failed to prove that he can make it in the East Midlands.

One would think that Leicester need to sign a couple centre-backs, especially considering that “if” football’s played next season and “if” they’re in Europe, then a bigger squad is a prerequisite.
