Leicester City goalkeeper and title-winning legend Kasper Schmeichel is one of the most down-to-earth, top-level professional footballers.

Not all football players are relatable. There, we said it. Obviously they mostly do some good deeds and charity away from the game; though a minority seem uninterested and possibly contract bound even then. Although a few, like Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, retain the common touch. Which is so valuable, especially in times of uncertainty as well as pain.

Believe us or not, Foxes of Leicester were going to publish this piece, or a piece, on Schmeichel’s down-to-earth, charismatic nature. That was before the stopper took part in an incredibly candid podcast with Peter Crouch.

The Dane’s character is particularly impressive, or peculiar, when you think of the standing and fame his father, Peter – also a ‘keeper and winner of everything with Alex Ferguson’s amazing Manchester United team – had during Schmeichel junior’s childhood then adolescence.

Absolutely brilliant, revealing podcast with Leicester City legend

Schmeichel’s appearance on BBC’s That Peter Crouch Podcast was entertaining, surprising and hilarious all rolled into one emotion. There was insight into famous and infamous incidents, always with a touch of humour. Much needed at the moment, for everyone, not just Leicester City supporters.

Some of the more lightly shocking events and scenarios chatted about were things like comedic, expletive laden referees such as Mark Clattenburg: he would swear at players if they deserved it, according to the Foxes No.1. Additionally, Schmeichel spoke about his “…pride, joy and pure ecstasy” at winning the Premier League.

light. Trending. Wilfred Ndidi confirms he's staying at LCFC

And, amazingly, divulging that renowned striker Jamie Vardy is not the best trainer but can ‘flick a switch’ to turn it on in games with ferocious competitiveness. Honestly, the Blue Army faithful are truly delighted to have a man and player of this type representing us.
