Ayoze Perez interestingly explains how he joined Leicester
Ayoze Perez gave an interesting and revealing lockdown interview, in which he explains the process of joining Leicester City.
Foxes of Leicester believe that Spanish forward Ayoze Perez has had a very decent first season for Leicester City. Something we explained in more detail in a recent article. In fact, he deserves more respect for his maiden Foxes term.
Three elements which are supplied by Perez are unpredictability, versatility and uniqueness. He is unpredictable to defenders in a positive manner, whilst on the attack. Versatile, in the sense that he can be fielded in multiple places. Along with being unique for those exact qualities.
Joining Leicester City
The 26 year-old was an astute buy; in which Brendan Rodgers was instrumental in more ways than some followers would have probably expected.
At first, the man from María Jiménez says, he was looking to join a Spanish side; there were two options available to him at the time of attempting to venture away from Newcastle United. Perez wanted to play higher than his previous second division appearances back home, in LA Liga.
Leicester City only came in for the makeshift winger at a later stage. Rodgers asked him to a meeting in London and convinced the then Magpie to join. It was the Northern Irishman’s charm, respect and quality as a manager which lured Perez to the King Power Stadium.
Next season – or in the remainder of this one – Perez would like to be playing for Rodgers in his preferred position of central striker. This seems unlikely with Jamie Vardy still a team-mate, as well as the current systems. Although, it would possibly be an astute decision to try the former in a support striker role occasionally. Though Perez thinks the Foxes were still the correct choice of clubs. Read more at Sky Sports.
