The future of three current Leicester City defenders may not be with the Foxes. Partly due to contract rules and, of course, the coronavirus pandemic.

After finding ourselves surrounded by uncertainty, the situation seems to be gradually improving presently. Hopefully the world is healing. We could see Leicester City back in action in June with any luck, following the German model for restart.

Unfortunately these unprecedented times give fresh issues to the Foxes, especially with regards to players with expiring contracts. Three Leicester defenders, including two title-winning club legends, face the unknown.

Christian Fuchs

We all know that Christian Fuchs has been wrestling – not WWE, despite his American links – with a choice of leaving Leicester City and possibly retiring from football. He also has his sights set on a game change with the National Football League in the USA, where he wants to be an NFL kicker.

There is also a chance of playing in the Major League Soccer division. Fuchs has a home and his family in New York, whilst he is very comfortable with a US lifestyle. Confusion, panic and an unclear future for everyone in the English top-flight means the former Austria captain is now pondering his offer from Leicester City of another year extension.

Fuchs says it “hurts” missing his kids and wife over in NY; although the lure of “genius manager” Brendan Rodgers has already meant a change of mind for the defender.
