With his contract expiring next month, Papy Mendy is almost certain to depart Leicester City. These clubs are reportedly interested in taking the Frenchman.

Papy Mendy’s task of filling N’golo Kante’s shoes at Leicester City was always impossible, monumental – even unfathomable. Not just because the latter has quite simply inhuman qualities, but because Wilfred Ndidi is the only person on the planet who has come close to replicating Kante’s unbelievable output.

In fact the Nigerian overtook his counterpart in some category’s this season; and last campaign had some higher statistics. Although the French world cup winner was injured for parts of that term. Hamza Choudhury appears to sit ahead of Mendy in the defensive-midfield section of the Foxes team, too. In addition to Choudhury being a local favourite.

All this means that the former Nice player is ultimately best advised to leave Filbert Way as soon as possible. At age 27 he must to continue to progress his career. Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers recently said as much, personally.

In his time at King Power Stadium, Mendy has only started three matches for Rodgers; played under four separate managers; along with only managing 48 appearances.

Where next for the Leicester City midfielder?

According to reports in Turkey, carried by Leicester Mercury, Mendy has a few options: Trabzonspor as well as Italian side Udinese are monitoring the Fox. His contract is expiring so no fee will be involved. This, in all honesty, actually makes the former AS Monaco man an attractive commodity.

The publication further states that their colleagues at LeedsLive have ‘tipped’ Leeds United as contenders for Mendy’s signature. Obviously we at Foxes of Leicester hope the athlete settles somewhere. With the uncertainty surrounding football and the wider world presently, it’s actually pleasing to see someone with choices.
