Leicester target to replace wantaway Ben Chilwell named
It is likely that Ben Chilwell will leave Leicester City soon. He reportedly wants a move to Chelsea, as a replacement is identified.
Hopefully the Ben Chilwell saga is coming to an end sometime soon. To be honest, either outcome would be OK: an expensive transfer to Chelsea, or remaining at Leicester City.
Although, the defender would have to improve his consistency in order to justify his place in the Foxes XI, judging by 2019/20. Though when assessing 2018/19, last season – he has the capacity to do just that.
Chelsea move likely for Leicester City man
However, on Wednesday, Metro carried the story that the left-back has informed Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers that he would like to seek a move to the London side.
£85 million is the touted fee; an amount that may deter the Pensioners after months of underwhelming displays from the 23-year-old. Foxes of Leicester’s opinion on the valuation is: if a bid like that number is offered – it should be accepted. Bite their hands off, so to speak!
Within the outlet’s article is talk of Chilwell wanting to emulate ‘idol’ Ashley Cole, who apparently became the “best in the world” at Stamford Bridge. Cole in turn believes that Chilwell, who Frank Lampard would consider a ‘marquee’ signing, can become an “elite” player.
Another rumour, originating from The Transfer Window Podcast and picked up nationally, suggests that Rodgers will attempt to sign Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney as Chilwell’s possible replacement. Obviously the current Gunner worked with Rodgers at Celtic so there is a link.
Meanwhile, since returning for training at Leicester City’s Belvoir Drive, Chilwell’s has insisted he and the squad are raring to go. Leicester are due to play on or quickly after June 19, with Arsenal and Manchester City set to restart the Premier League on the 17th. While there has been one other positive coronavirus test at Tottenham Hotspur reported.
