Adam Lallana has apparently received a very generous, longer than first expected offer from Leicester City. The Liverpool man is expected to sign soon.

Rumours around Liverpool playmaker Adam Lallana’s potential transfer have rapidly increased again. With many national media outlets suggesting Leicester City are close to striking a deal with the Englishman.

With so many publications stating the same thing – ‘Lallana will move to the Foxes imminently’ – it is arguably no longer speculation, but a matter of merely agreeing personal terms. The 32-year-old’s contract is expiring, of course, so he is available for free.

Unfortunately for Lallana, despite already having a relationship with current Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers from the Northern Irishman’s time with the Reds, he will probably be in exactly the same substitute situation in the East Midlands as he was on Merseyside. James Maddison already supplies what his elder counterpart offers, at higher quality, with youth on his side.

Lallana is also unlikely to take Dennis Praet’s place in the starting eleven. While the incredibly talented Youri Tielemans will also be ahead in the queue, as well as aiming to reclaim his starting spot from countryman, Praet.

Adam Lallana close to Leicester City deal

Additionally, Leicester are set to offer Rodgers’ former player a two-year contract, as per Mirror. presumably this is because the former Southampton midfielder would reject a one-year deal. A single season would be preferable for City, in Foxes of Leicester’s opinion. Due to the athlete’s age in a demanding role,

With the likelihood of Leicester competing in the Champions League next campaign, experience and expertise is needed. Yet I question if, for particularly high wages, Lallana is the correct man for the job, regardless of Rodgers’ admiration. Leicester meet Watford in a fortnight from today as the premiership returns.
