Why Leicester may not sign Tagliafico or Gosens
Leicester City are still yet to sign any players during the off-season, before 2020/21 begins. And left-back target Nicolas Tagliafico may not become a Fox, either.
With Ben Chilwell leaving Leicester City, and the ambition of the club to be back in the Champions League, presumably a world-class or international left-back must replace him on Filbert Way. That notion is simple, whilst being a clear expectation of the Foxes fan base. And a fair assumption it is, too.
While the search for another prominent footballer to play on the right-wing also continues, Brendan Rodgers’ connection to global full-backs is now prevalent in sports media. A host of players are linked with the King Power side – between 45-50 approximately, by my calculations – but this article will focus on Chilwell’s replacement.
Leicester City may not sign Nicolas Tagliafico or Robin Gosens
In my humble opinion, Chilwell didn’t perform quite as highly as he was expected to last season. Neither did he earn a substantial team’s interest. But now he has gone, it is a chance for Leicester to improve on the England man.
Rodgers’ recruitment department have contacted Nicolas Tagliafico’s agent, according to Fabrizio Romano. Nothing else concrete has been reported since. The Foxes are also interested in Atalanta’s Robin Gosens. Either could prospectively match Ricardo Pereira’s notable output on the opposite flank.
However, Sky Sports claims both targets have £40 million price-tags placed on them. That would, according to the outlet, exceeds the amount that the East Midlanders would potentially be prepared to pay.
