Leicester make transfer breakthrough for international defender
It is now widely reported in English media that Leicester City have made a breakthrough for Tottenham Hotspur target and Atalanta right-back Timothy Castagne.
Hopefully the feeling of dread, failure, or of Leicester City recruitment neglecting to reinforce Brendan Rodgers’ squad will soon dissipate. That is due to the claim of the Foxes’ advancement in their quest to secure a transfer to replace the departed Ben Chilwell.
Atalanta right-back Timothy Castagne – who can play on the left, too – is a reported target of the King Power outfit, and may now be joining last campaign’s fifth placed Premier League side. In a Football Insider ‘exclusive’, it is suggested that the Belgian will join compatriots Dennis Praet along with Youri Tielemans on Filbert Way.
Leicester City on verge of making initial signing
Castagne previously stated that he would be interested in joining Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs were also credited with monitoring the Belgian. However, capturing Wolverhampton Wanderers right-wingback, Matt Doherty, seems to have ended any courtship there.
FI says Rodgers’ team have subsequently made a “breakthrough” in their attempts to sign the Serie A man. And they also say the 24 year old’s management are close to an agreement with the East Midlanders.
Last term the defender, who can also play wide midfield, supplied four goal involvements across the division and Champions League.
Leicester have recently missed out on two apparent transfer targets: Brighton & Hove Albion defender Ben White will remain a seagull this season; while Schalke’s Weston McKennie has made a dream move to Juventus.
