Before Leicester City meet West Bromwich Albion as the 2020/21 Premier League gets underway, Brendan Rodgers has supplied Foxes injury updates.

For what feels like the entire summer, Leicester City fans – including myself – have been complaining justifiably about the lack of incoming transfers. To be frank, the club hasn’t rid itself of enough deadwood, either.

Players like Rachid Ghezzal and Adrien Silva should definitely have been sold. Even for lower, coronavirus affected prices. And some of the promising youth could already be progressing as well as gaining experience on loan at other teams.

Then there are the three or four senior defensive midfielders on the roster: surely it is unnecessary of Brendan Rodgers to keep Hamza Choudhury and re-sign Papy Mendy.

Yet, I don’t want to sound as though it’s all doom and gloom – because it absolutely is not! In fact, there is much positivity engulfing the King Power side, once again: Europa League qualification; a state-of-the-art training facility; a top manager; excelling youth; and squad assets in abundance.

For the visit to West Bromwich Albion, the Foxes will unfortunately be without Ricardo Pereira, Jonny Evans and Filip Benkovic, who has a hip problem.

While James Maddison, Wes Morgan, Daniel Amartey and Christian Fuchs will be assessed prior to the opener versus West Brom. Timothy Castagne is in line for a debut.
