According to his own speculation, Leicester City want this defender. A bid has reportedly been rejected, so what’s next in the Wesley Fofana saga?

Last week, Saint-Etienne centre-back Wesley Fofana manoeuvred in a rare way for footballers. Angling for a transfer away from his club in a high profile interview, the 19 year old professed his desire to move to Leicester City.

Additionally, the youthful star appealed to his owners’ emotional sensibilities, by suggesting that a potential switch would change he and his family’s lives. Furthermore, Fofana also claimed to have accepted an offer for his services from Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Former Leicester City boss has his say

Apparently les Verts rejected a £25 million offer for Fofana; the French outfit consider their player ‘not for sale’. And, now, former Foxes boss Claude Puel has reared his head in the situation. Fofana’s current manager is not happy with the scenario, labelling hearsay in the media as like a “soap opera“. In Foxes of Leicester’s opinion, it feels increasingly as though Fofana will not join the East midlanders.

If St. Etienne and Leicester cannot find an agreement with regard to the Marseille-born starlet quickly time will expire, as the transfer market closes on Monday, October 5. There would have to be a back-up option available at the last minute for Rodgers‘ Recruitment team. At a quoted £50 million, the alternative won’t be James Tarkowski of Burnley, either. A known target of the Foxes, who is overvalued by at least £15-20m.
