After his Manchester City side were outmanoeuvred by Leicester City and their boss Brendan Rodgers, Pep Guardiola refused to give any credit to the Foxes.

Pep Guardiola isn’t often outwitted by mangers when it comes to tactical awareness, perceived preparation and judgment of opponents. However, in Manchester City’s 5-2 thumping at home to Leicester City, the Citizens were pretty much beaten in every single department you can name.

For example, the Foxes’ diligence with regard to their game plan showed more commitment; then the actual match strategy itself; stratagems all over the field: such as James Justin only attacking when prudent opportunities presented themselves; the wastefulness of Guardiola’s men was also evident through shot statistics; Man City were outfought and outclassed after the 30-35 minute mark, in most positions.

Pep Guardiola didn’t even congratulate his opposite number

You’d think an ingenuous football boss like the former Barcelona man would congratulate the opposition in his post game interview, even if he is simultaneously plotting the key to his revenge upon the subsequent meeting.

Yet, in a classless move, much like overrated defensive-midfielder Rodri, Guardiola merely condemned Leicester’s defence-minded set-up.

Rodri actually went so far as to say the Foxes were “lucky”, as well as considering Man City ‘unfairly treated’. Which seemed like sore losing.

Meanwhile, Guardiola said Leicester only wanted to defend – which is odd as they easily scored five – and, strangely, that Rodgers’ team “just didn’t want to play”. How gracious in defeat.
