Leicester will sign Wesley Fofana, not James Tarkowski
Leicester City will sign French centre-back Wesley Fofana, and not Burnley defender James Tarkowski.
Signing a centre-back was never going to be a straight forward, swift, decisive process. And to be fair to Leicester City, their track record is excellent in recent transfer windows. Obviously there are always a few duds along the way; but I for one am content to wait for the correct choice.
Hopefully that selection is now decided, as the Foxes’ pursuit of Saint-Etienne centre-back Wesley Fofana is now apparently nearing agreement. There had been reports earlier today suggesting a breakthrough in the quest for the Frenchman’s signature, now the the club have confirmed the sale.
The King Power team will get their man, with St-Etienne apparently accepting a £32m offer. A further £4.5m in add-ons could increase the eventual amount paid for Fofana.
Leicester won’t sign James Tarkowski
Burnley’s James Tarkowski was another defender Leicester were said to be on the precipice of signing, according to reports on on Tuesday morning. Although, later in the day LansLive said the England man will not move in this transfer window.
In the Premier League Leicester currently sit top, a consequence of their unpredicted and great start: three wins in as many matches. However, a weakened Foxes eleven were dumped out of the Carabao Cup, which showed squad depth is still an issue. Though some of the Blue Army, especially Foxes of Leicester‘s Twitter followers, believe it is a blessing in disguise that the team don’t have a fourth competition to compete in, with the Europa League and FA Cup upcoming.
