Leicester supporters will love what James Maddison has said
There is absolutely no doubt that Leicester City supporters will love what James Maddison said after the Europa League win.
It has to be noted that last night’s Leicester City victory over Zorya Luhansk in the Europa League was exciting and enjoyable. Besides being a very comfortable first outing in the competition for the Foxes. When they could have been nervous and were obviously well under strength without Jamie Vardy, Caglar Soyuncu, Wilfred Ndidi and long-term absentee Ricardo Pereira.
However, despite the satisfying win, something was missing. The empty King Power Stadium still had a mild atmosphere – but just imagine how the ground would have been rocking with fans! We might have witnessed another Leicestershire earthquake on the Richter Scale.
Hopefully the government will decide on a safe reentry for some of the Blue Army before Christmas. Talks are due to be held soon, after plans to allow part of the faithful back in October were scrapped.
Leicester City supporters will love James Maddison’s opinion
Leicester favourite James Maddison was almost back to his best versus Zorya. He’s been recovering from a couple of injuries since the 2019/20 run-in.
Having not started a Premier League match yet this campaign, just a Carabao Cup clash against Arsenal, Maddison controlled a lot of Brendan Rodgers’ team’s quality play. England’s midfielder was attributed a WhoScored rating of 8.30.
Post game “Madders” described his evening as bitter sweet, despite scoring:
"“I hate having no fans.“Tonight’s a fantastic night with it being my European debut and stuff, but it’s a little bittersweet. I don’t want to take the shine off it for myself, because a European debut and a goal, I should be so happy with that, but I wish my family were up there and I had a full King Power Stadium watching me.“When it’s a packed stadium it creates a better atmosphere.”"
Another player who grew in influence in Thursday’s UEL match was Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho. Iheanacho produced two assists and a goal, taking his chance in the XI with both hands.
