Just one day ago it appeared as if Leicester City’s injury issues had eased slightly with the return of some stars. Though one of them is still unavailable.

Brendan Rodgers has been asked – some people would say the question had implicit implications – whether star trio Caglar Soyuncu, Wilfred Ndidi and Ricardo Pereira were rushed back on Thursday. Promptly, the boss disagreed: Rodgers claimed that Leicester City medical staff gave an ‘all clear’ for the three to be involved or even begin the match versus Ukrainians Zorya Luhansk.

Two of those players, Soyuncu and Ricardo, suffered reoccurrences of their initial issues or a new problem. This would generally lead one to believe that the journalist who enquired whether it was too soon for starting comebacks was absolutely justified and correct to ask.

I’m not going say Rodgers made a mistake – but none of the aforementioned athletes needed to start that match. Especially with so many injuries and lengthy layoffs already occurring.

Timothy Castagne is still unavailable for Leicester City

Versatile defender Timothy Castagne is out of the upcoming Premier League contest with Sheffield United. Rob Tanner confirmed the news on Friday.

Following the clash with Wilder’s side, Leicester will play AEK Athens at King Power Stadium. A tie which now has added importance for the Foxes: Leicester need a result if they want to finish top of Europa League Group G, in order to avoid meeting a relegated Champions League side in the next round of fixtures.

Although it is likely that Rodgers’ team would have to play and beat one of these type of outfits – potentially Manchester United or Real Madrid – in the latter stages at some point. But with the east Midlanders‘ current form of no wins in four attempts across all competitions, not playing any of those clubs appears to give Leicester an increased chance of further progression or even lifting the UEL trophy. Dare we say.
