A media narrative of the Premier League title race seemed to divert to talk of Liverpool v Manchester United, yet Leicester City altered the agenda.

Once again Foxes of Leicester is to come to the aid of little Leicester City in the eternal battle against false media polish and lazy, uninformed professional opinions.

That’s right, if you were in front of a television over the last week – or even awake in general – you will have heard mainstream sports media discussing the then upcoming Merseyside versus Manchester clash as Man United travelled to Liverpool for their derby over the weekend.

And rightly so: the two giants of the English, well world game, actually, are phenomenal clubs. Really, they lead the way here, with Manchester City and Chelsea obviously challenging that status in the recent decade or so. Yet, there was scant mention of the Foxes, if any at all; which seems slightly predictable as well as disrespectful to Brendan Rodgers and his team.

The east Midlands side must be overachieving, mustn’t they?! That’s because the wedge Leicester subsequently placed between the two formerly mentioned teams in the Premier League. After defeating Southampton at home, Sunday’s narrative on Sky Sports should have been about three clubs, even though one of them wasn’t actually playing that day.

However, the narrative everywhere, not just Sky – BT Sport and BBC etcetera – pretty much remained around the agenda of the winner of the Reds and the Red Devils being eventually crowned champions. Oh, and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City were also thrown into the mix with Jurgen Klopp’s and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s outfits, typically.

While it is unlikely a zenic coach-type such as Rodgers would be riled by such things – talk and discussion is just that, it doesn’t affect match outcomes – he did say this:
