Leicester City’s Wesley Fofana is one of the world’s best defensive prospects.. A marvellous player, but he was justifiably substituted early against Southampton after a yellow card and unwise play. Brendan Rodgers explained to his player why this had to happen.

There is a huge debate amongst Foxes fans at the moment over defenders; and presumably between Rodgers and his most trusted coaching staff such as legendary centre-back, Kolo Toure. Which players should form a centre-half partnership: Jonny Evans, Caglar Soyuncu or Wesley Fofana?

All three starting games together in a three-man collective has also been widely suggested and lauded. With various benefits being explained and debated on social media.

At the time of writing, the duo of Soyuncu and Fofana are winning Foxes of Leicester’s poll by one per cent. Although, Rodgers is likely to begin using the former alongside Evans; the Northern Irish international is the most experienced of the trio.

Boss speaks to Leicester City starlet about early withdrawal from game

The young Frenchman did not seem pleased when he was substituted versus the Saints after only 53 minutes. Afterwards, Rodgers – always an astute man manager – spoke to the young, highly-rated player.

The Foxes boss claims Fofana “understands” the decision; as well as saying any athlete would be disappointed. Additionally, Rodgers said Fofana appreciated having a ‘sit-down’ together a couple of days later; the boss also suggested that they’ve ‘moved on’ from the incident, as per Leicestershire Live.

Chelsea boss’s view on Leicester City’s title credentials

Before the ultra significant match against Chelsea, Blues boss Frank Lampard gave his verdict on the prowess of his opponents on Tuesday night. Leicester can actually go to the top of the Premier League by defeating the Pensioners, and Lampard believes the Foxes can, in fact, lift the trophy at the end of the season. Per Sky Sports, Lampard said this:

"“Leicester are in the title race for sure because of the way they are playing, the results they are getting, and their position in the league”– Frank Lampard"
