Leicester City talisman Jamie Vardy has thankfully undergone successful hernia surgery. And the striker may be back sooner than expected.

You may have read articles recently that stated opinionated and subjective assessments such as: ‘the Foxes are doing all right without Vardy’, and, ‘even when not scoring he attracts defenders to allow others to finish’.

While these are valid points in general, they merely mask the fact that Leicester do need the No.9 in order to achieve what they desire and deserve. Contrarily to what some suggest – Vardy is still the linchpin in Brendan Rodgers’ system.

Update on the great Leicester City striker

Now, some marvelous news for the Blue Army – you’re welcome in advance: Jamie Vardy could be back starting in around two weeks, according to a report. His hernia surgery went well, gladly; the operation was undertaken on Saturday.

The matches the former-England international might return for, are Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League, or Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup. Here’s more from the manager:

"“It’s only a minor operation. We can cope without him at this point, and then he will be fit and raring to go for the remainder of the season.”– Brendan Rodgers"

Back to the Premier League for Leicester City

A meeting with Everton at Goodison Park is Leicester’s next matchup; the Toffees are now coming into some form and will be a tough opponent for Rodgers’ men. However, in the form the Foxes find themselves in, with multiple different team selections and rotation, I’m confident that they can still defeat the Merseysiders.
