Brendan Rodgers agrees with Leicester fans about awful referee
Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers fully agrees with Foxes fans about the Europa League referee from the Slavia Prague match.
On Thursday evening, Leicester drew with Slavia in the Czech Republic. It wasn’t a game to remember. In fact, many fans of the east Midlands side went directly to social media during, and certainly after, the UEL clash.
Although, something those Blue Army members have missed is that a 0-0 draw away from home in a stadium with only opposition supporters, on a bad pitch for this standard is actually a good result. Another element of the draw observers witnessed, was some rather strange officiating. In particular, Italian referee Marco Guida.
Guida made some baffling calls – even appearing to be conned by, or favour, Slavia’s players. It has to be said! And Brendan Rodgers, Foxes manager, was unimpressed; which says a lot as the Northern Irishman rarely says anything negative at all.
Leicester City boss upset with decisions
This is what the gaffer said:
"“I thought the officials were very poor, I have to say. I don’t comment on them much as it’s a very difficult job but some of the decisions… It was clear it wasn’t [an elbow from Kelechi Iheanacho for the yellow card] – they were challenging for the ball. Overall, I didn’t think it was a good night for them to be honest.”– Brendan RodgersVia Sky Sports"
Another piece of Europa League information for you now, as Slavia’s boss Jindrich Trpisovsky – a man with an apparent soft spot for Leicester because he idolised Leicestershire’s own Gary Lineker – labelled Foxes forward Jamie Vardy as one of the five best strikers in the footballing world.
In addition, Trpisovsky also praised other attack-minded options on Filbert Way, such as midfielder James Maddison and winger Harvey Barnes. The second and decisive leg of the crucial Round of 32 match is less than a week away on Thursday, 25 February.
