Leicester City are trying to sign a rising Leeds United star

Leicester City has inquired about the rising Leeds United centre back Pascal Struijk. However, the foxes are not the only ones that are after the defender.
Leicester City is reportedly interested in Leeds United center-back Pascal Struijk. The King Power club has been struck with numerous unfortunate injuries in every department, on several instances this season. So, generally, it should be a primary concern for the club now to augment the squad depth for the upcoming times.
The defensive line has been victimized the most, having the largest count of injured players getting sidelined on a regular basis. Players such as Wesley Fofana, Çağlar Söyüncü, Wes Morgan, Jonny Evans, Timothy Castagne, Ricardo Pereira, Daniel Amartey, and most recently James Justin have all been injured for different periods this season and have missed a considerable amount of crucial games.
At one point the crisis was so dreadful that Foxes defensive midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, had to step down into a center-back role with Nampalys Mendy taking Ndidi’s usual role for a few games. The position that Leicester is finding themselves constantly in, surely demands the mentality to challenge for the title consistently every season by now. That means signings are essential.
Leicester City looking at Pascal Struijk
Pascal Struijk, who started his journey from ADO Den Haag’s academy, has represented the youth side of Ajax (Jong Ajax) before joining Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United in January 2018. He made only five Championship appearances for the Whites last season, where they gained promotion.
Since then Struijk has had somewhat of a “rapid development” which saw Bielsa entrusting the youngster to start ten Premier League games in a row which takes his tally to appear in 15 league games this season. And now Sport Witness carries the story that LCFC have “initiated contact” with the defender/midfielder.
This smooth transition from the centre-back has attracted the attention of clubs like Leicester City and Serie A side Napoli. The reports claim that both the clubs have inquired about a possible move for the centre-back from Elland Road.
Struijk has represented the Netherlands in youth levels but he was born in Belgium. The Belgian national coach is eager to pursue the defender to select his Belgian nationality instead of opting to play for the Netherlands. Apparently, he could be expected to receive a Belgian call-up in March, if he agrees.
Struijk is under contract with Leeds United till the summer of 2024. A player of his caliber can add solid value to the foxes’ defensive department. In no way, shape, or form the East Midlands side can afford to have another sloppy ending like last season just due to a depleting squad depth amidst an injury scare. Club captain Wes Morgan and veteran Jonny Evans are seasoning and they are often wearing-out with injuries. So the new upcoming stars are required to create long-term, secured sustainability for the club.
