Sadly, Leicester City have suffered a significant injury blow prior to their big Europa League game versus Slavia Prague in the Round of 32.

After the result being 0-0 in the initial meeting between Slavia and the Foxes in the Czech Republic, the second leg is likely to be a more lively occasion in Leicester. Unless both sides are very nervous, trepidatious and tentative, of course.

It is, though, more feasible to envision the east Midlanders obtaining the victory, as they are undoubtedly the best team on paper. However, the Prague outfit surprised many of us with their impressive, committed play so don’t expect them to be pushovers – at all.

One man who will not be available for UEL selection this week for Brendan Rodgers, is one of the most influential and important players in the squad in general. Not to mention being a candidate for Player of the Season. James Maddison is no longer an amazing prospect. Nor is his a midfielder who ‘chips in occasionally’ with goals and assists. ‘Madders’ is now a Premier League playmaking extraordinaire.

Unfortunately Maddison sustained a hip injury against Aston Villa; he had one last year, too, keeping him out of quite a few matches. And the boss confirmed that the England man is unavailable for Thursday’s decider, as per BBC Sport. At the moment it is unknown when the 24-year-old will return.

Leicester City boss asked about news at former club

In the same presser, Rodgers was asked about his ‘friend’ and former-Leicester star Neil Lennon’s departure from the City boss’s ex-club Celtic. This is the response that Rodgers offered:

"“I’m saddened when any manager loses their job, but in particular someone I can call a friend. It’s a tough day for him and when it all settles down, he’s a legend of the club and his legacy there will be in tact forever.”– Brendan RodgersVia Leicestershire Live"
