Apparently an up-and-coming Leicester City starlet wants to leave the Foxes, with a rival EPL club supposedly lurking for Sidnei Tavares’ signature.

Tavares is a cousin of Portuguese footballing star Nani, once of Manchester United. Not that this fact means anything directly, but many people do consider it a sign of pedigree or impending quality that should be retained at Leicester.

Another thing to know about the attacking midfielder, who is versatile enough to fill in in the No.8 role or be fielded in a wider position, is that he’s highly regarded on Filbert Way. Brendan Rodgers even allowed the youthful player’s entrance into the dreadful Europa League loss to Slavia Prague on Thursday.

However, the 19-year-old’s contract expires at the season’s end, and these days that means trouble. Unless the Foxes opt to give him a senior/first team standard wage on the roster. Here is what was reported about the situation:

"“The 19-year-old’s [Tavares’] deal with the Foxes expires in the summer, the report claims there are many sides who’ve been looking to sign him for free.Newcastle United are pointed out as one of the clubs who’d like to keep him in England, and they should have competition from Benfica, Sporting, Almeria, Sevilla and Nice.– Lucas SpositoVia Sport Witness"

Arsenal are the next opponents of Leicester, and the Gunners visit King Power Stadium on Sunday, 28 February. Mikel Arteta received a strange amount of rather unfounded praise near the beginning of his tenure at the North London club. Yet anyone watching them this season knows it’s the same old Arsenal of recent years.

Teams can easily and dramatically target a multitude of Arteta’s side’s frailties: David Luiz’s or Granit Xhaka’s temperament, Rob Holding’s lack of pace – the defence in general, actually. To name but a few iffy elements.

For the big game – in which many pundits believe the Foxes can essentially replace the North London outfit as a big six member through victory – Arsenal are without Runar Alex Runarsson, as per Football.London. But Holding and Thomas Partey should be available.
